LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The National Soccer Coaches
Association of America has honored the UALR soccer team with the NSCAA/adidas
Women's Team Academic Award after compiling a team grade point average of 3.23.
Teams were required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 to be
eligible for the award.
The Trojans, who finished the season with a 9-12-1 record
and advanced to the finals of the Sun Belt Tournament, are well rounded with
on-field and off-field awards.
Earlier this year, Kristen
Semko was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team after
posting a perfect 4.0 GPA and Christina
Veasley received First-Team All Sun Belt honors for her stellar performance
on the field this season. In addition, Veasley along with Jane Picarelli, Jaqyuelyn
Paz, and Kamiya Merrick were all
named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team.
UALR, whose 2009 schedule consisted of six teams that
advanced to the NCAA tournament (Memphis,
Ole Miss, Southeastern Louisiana, Murray State, UAPB & Denver), look to further improve athletically
and academically in the year ahead.
