LITTLE ROCK – UALR junior Sofia Berglund has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI Women's At-Large team, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America. A psychology major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Berglund led the Trojans and ranked 13th in the Sun Belt Conference with a 76.18 scoring average over 33 rounds in the 2013-14 season.
Berglund competed in all 11 events for UALR and collected eight top-15 finishes on the year. She placed fifth at the Chris Banister Golf Classic (Sept. 1-3) to open the season in Jacksonville, Ala., ending the event with a combined score of 11-over par 227. The Varberg, Sweden, native tied for eighth at the Golf Week Conference Challenge (Sept. 23-25) in Wolcott, Colo., matching her season low at 9-over 225.
Berglund played some of her best golf of the year at the season-ending Sun Belt Championship (April 14-16) in Loxley, Ala., finishing at 9-over 225 to tie for fifth place and earn a spot on the All-Tournament team. Her opening-round 70 was a season low and good enough to tie her atop the leaderboard after 18 holes.
The women's at-large sports include bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
