LITTLE ROCK – Former UALR golfer Colby Benton has been named to the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Benton was one of just 207 players in Division I golf to earn the honor.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Benton competed in seven events as a junior, averaging 75.67 strokes per round. He posted his best finish of the year at the ULM/Wallace Jones Invitational (March 31-April 1), tying for 26th at 14-over 230 (76-79-75).
A native of Cabot, Arkansas, Benton boasts a 3.43 GPA while pursuing a degree in marketing.
