Gault to be Named Conway Sportsman of the Year

LITTLE ROCK – Former Trojan standout Taylor Gault will be given the Marvin Delph Award by the Conway Athletic Awards Commission (CAAC) at a banquet at the end of the month, the CAAC announced this week.
 
The Marvin Delph award, named for the former Conway native who won two state championships for Conway in high school, is given by the CAAC annually to someone designated the Conway sportsman of the year. Gault is from Conway and attended Conway High School.
 
Gault will be given the award at a banquet on January 31. Previous winners of the award include NFL running back Peyton Hillis.
 
Gault, a four-year letterwinner with the Trojans from 2011-15, left the Little Rock athletic program as the team's all-time leader in free throws made and attempted, its second-best scorer ever with 1,973 career points and second all-time in Little Rock history in made field goals, attempted field goals and blocks.
 
Gault is also in the Trojan top 10 in 10 other categories. She helped the Trojans to two NCAA appearances and one WNIT berth in her tenure and was named All-Sun Belt First Team three separate times.
 
As part of this honor from the CAAC, Gault will have a duplicate of her award made and displayed at Conway High School, and memorabilia from her career will be added to a collection at Faulkner County Museum in downtown Conway.
