LITTLE ROCK –
Andre Jones begins his freshman season at Little Rock in 2016-17. A former State Tournament MVP, Jones was named the McDonald's Full Court Award Winner as Arkansas' top high school player in 2016.

Before leading Malvern High School to the title game of the State Tournament in 2016, Jones led Little Rock McClellan High School to a Class 5A State Championship in 2015. He was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after scoring 24 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in McClellan's win over Maumelle High School in the championship game.

What made you want to play for the Trojans?

I would have to say Coach Beard and Coach Flanigan. When they came to me at the end of last summer, which was my last year at AAU, they just talked to me and asked what I wanted. They were just real with me. They basically showed up every day, called me, and both of them came to my high school games. They made me feel like I was a part of the family already.

What has been the biggest adjustment from high school?

I would have to say shot selection. We've been doing individual workouts and I'm just so used to shooting whenever I want. That's something Coach Johnson said that I'll have to change because every possession counts.

What are your goals for this season?

Personally, I want to contribute as a freshman. I can see myself contributing a lot. I just want to keep growing as a player even though I don't have any experience in college yet. Team-wise, I just want to win.

Outside of sports what do you do to unwind or clear your head?

I watch a lot of Netflix, but I recently got an Xbox so I've been playing that a lot. I'll play either Grand Theft Auto or NBA 2K, and Ryan and I will play online or something like that. It's something to just make me forget about what's going on in real life.

What's your favorite thing about living in Little Rock?

My family. Everybody in my family lives around the same area, so I get to see them whenever I want.
