Trojans Add Teal Battle as Part of 2017-18 Class

LITTLE ROCK – Trojan women's basketball coach Joe Foley announced the signing of Teal Battle on Wednesday, making her the second member of the Trojans' 2017 recruiting class.

Battle has scored 16.7 points per game and averaged 8.3 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.6 blocks per game in her pre-college career.

Battle currently plays at White Station High School in Memphis, Tennessee under coach Tommy Warren. She played AAU basketball with the Memphis Mambas for coach AW Massey.

"Teal can play probably anywhere probably from the 3 or 4 spot and can post you up a little bit with her size," Foley said. "She's long and athletic and can shoot the 3. She'll give us a lot of versatility at the 3 or 4 spot."

Before joining White Station High School, Battle was named a Tennessee Best of Preps winner while playing for the Memphis Metro HomeSchool Mustangs of the National Christian HomeSchool Basketball Championships (NCHBC).

Battle also won NCHBC National Offensive Player of the Year, NCHBC Regional Post Player of the Year and Regional Junior Player of the Year honors. She was named First Team All-Tournament at the national and regional level for the NCHBC.

"Teal Battle embodies her last name," Warren said. "She will battle any opponent until she wins. She is truly a remarkable athlete but more than anything a remarkable human being."

Battle will become the second Trojan on the 2017-18 roster with Memphis ties, as current freshman Emily Lytle played her high school basketball at Evangelical Christian School just outside Memphis.
