Shanity James was named First Team All-Sun Belt and guard
Alexius Dawn was named Second Team All-Sun Belt, the league announced Tuesday.
Â
James' postseason honor is the first of her career, while Dawn is making her second appearance on the All-Sun Belt Second Team. She was also named to the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team last year.
Â
James has had her best offensive season as a Trojan in her final year, posting 15.3 points per game as the Trojans' anchor inside. She is the team's leading scorer as well as its leading rebounder with 7.6 boards per game.
Â
An All-Sun Belt Second Team preseason selection, James has more than lived up to that billing. She is sixth in the league in scoring and fifth in rebounding. She also has the league's fourth-best field goal percentage, its fourth-most offensive rebounds and its 10th-most blocked shots.
Â
In conference-only games, James is seventh in scoring and fifth in rebounding. She is also fifth in field-goal percentage and steals. Nationally, James' field goal percentage is in the top 50. She has six double-doubles this year and eight games with 20 or more points scored.
Â
Dawn continues to make a huge impact for Little Rock in her second and final year with the team. She ranks 18th in the league in scoring, eighth in assists, sixth in free throw percentage, 10th in steals, 10th in 3-pointers made per game and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Â
Dawn is Little Rock's second-leading scorer, putting up 10.7 points per game. Always a threat from the 3-point line, she draws defenders away from other guards to help them get open looks. She has made 47 3-pointers this year, more than any other Trojan.
Â
The Trojans will begin their run at a Sun Belt Tournament championship on Wednesday, taking on No. 7 seed Texas State at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, La., at 5 p.m.
