LITTLE ROCK – After a weekend off, the Trojan track and field teams will return to action this weekend, traveling to nearby Memphis for the Memphis Tiger Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Events begin Friday evening with the hammer throw and 5K races, but the bulk of the action will take place on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. in the field and noon on the track. Saturday's races will begin with the 4x100 relay at noon and go through approximately 5:30 p.m. with the 4x400 relays.

Also competing in Memphis will be Division I schools Arkanas State, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Ole MIss, UCA, Southeast Missouri, Austin Peay, Missouri and Tennessee State.

Adela Hernandez,
Carli Langley,
Rebeca Solis and Sara Claycomb will all run for the Trojans in Friday night's 5K. The rest of the roster will wait until Saturday to compete.

The 100-meter dash will see school record holder
Anika Charles race along with
Rickitha Hicks,
Kendrick Dunn,
Dylan Wood and
Terance Goodwin. The 200 will feature
Jessica Gray,
Dylan Wood, Dunn and Michael Perry.

Charles will also race in the 400 along with
Bless Dupeh,
Eboni Smith,
Akeia Joyner,
Jasmine Blunt, Gray and Perry.
Zodani Francois will also make his debut at that distance.    Â

In the 800,
Angelica Jacobs will race for the women while
Josh Jones,
Cory Martin,
Tre' James and
Kenneth Broyles are set to race for the men.

Hurdling for the Trojans will be
Tyler Kelly and
Brittney Brasuell in the 400.

In the 1500,
Kennedy Chumba will race for the Trojans.
Methuselah Lagat and
Isaac Lalang will give the 3K steeplechase a try for the first time this year.

In the field events,
Desmond Gulley,
Nghia Dinh and
Tyra Gillam are scheduled to represent Little Rock as long jumpers and triple jumpers.

Little Rock's runners and jumpers have had a tremendous season to this point. On the women's side, 18 new top-10 times in school history have been posted, and the team has broken four school records. The Trojan men have four new top-10 times this year. Three different Trojans have been named the Sun Belt Conference's Student-Athlete of the Week so far this year.

Following this weekend's meet, Little Rock will have one more week off before facing the biggest meet of the season: the Sun Belt Championships. That event will take place on May 13-15 in Lafayette, La.
