Van Compton has announced the signing of newcomer Aubrey Wilson, a 6-0 setter and hitter, for the 2016 season. From Bennington, Kan., Wilson previously played with Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan.

As a setter and outside hitter at Hutchinson, Wilson was named a 2015 AVCA First-Team All-American, a 2015 NJCAA Division I First-Team All-American and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division Player of the Year. Last year, Wilson tallied 2.35 kills per set, a .357 hitting percentage, 4.96 assists per set, 0.95 blocks per set, 0.24 aces per set and 1.71 digs per set in 42 matches. As team captain, Wilson led her team to a 34-9 record, a Region VI championship and a trip to the NJCAA Tournament. During her freshman season in 2014, Wilson earned All-Jayhawk West First Team honors and was an All-Region VI First Team selection after compiling 227 kills, 120 total blocks and 221 digs.

"Aubrey is a unique player," Compton said. "She's a setter and hitter, so she'll be a very versatile player for us. She brings experience to the table with a lot of good accolades from junior college."

Wilson played her high school career at Ell-Saline High School in Brockville, Kan. There, she was a three-time All-State selection, an All-State Tournament selection, a four-time First Team All-League selection, a four-year letter winner and was team captain. In addition to volleyball, Wilson was an accomplished basketball player and track athlete. Wilson was a two-time All-State selection, a three-time All-League MVP and a team captain with basketball while she was a three-event state champion and team captain with track.

On the academic side, Wilson was named to the President's and Dean's List at Hutchinson. In high school, Wilson was an "A" Honor Roll student in addition to being a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.Â
