Trojans Enjoy Strong Spring in Classroom

LITTLE ROCK – With the spring semester just completed, Little Rock's student-athletes have once again proven their status as scholars as they boasted a cumulative 3.24 grade point average through the spring. The Trojans' combined spring-semester GPA was 3.20.
 
"I couldn't be more pleased with the impressive performance by our student-athletes in the classroom this spring," Director of Athletics Chasse Conque said. "Their scholastic achievements along with our graduation success rate of 83 percent continues to demonstrate the commitment to graduating our young men and women. Our coaches and support staff deserve a great deal of credit for their dedication to the academic well-being of our student-athletes."
 
Nearly two-thirds of the Trojans' student-athletes posted a grade point average above 3.0 during the spring semester and more than 70 percent have cumulative grade point averages above 3.0.
 
Twelve of 14 Little Rock athletic programs hold cumulative GPAs above 3.0, and women's golf, soccer and volleyball impressed with team GPAs above 3.5 during the spring.
 
Little Rock's teams combined for 29 student-athletes on the Chancellor's List and 31 more on the Dean's List.
 
The Trojan women's golf team, the recipient of the Sun Belt's 2014-15 Team Academic Award, led the pack with a team GPA of 3.61 as seven of its eight student-athletes were above a 3.0. Three women's golfers made the Chancellor's List, three made the Dean's List and three earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages in the spring.
 
The soccer program, another 2014-15 SBC Team Academic Award winner, posted a spring-semester GPA of 3.59 with 18 of its 23 student-athletes earning above a 3.0. The team's cumulative grade point average currently sits at 3.60. Nine members of the team are on the Chancellor's List and another five made the Dean's List. Nine of them earned perfect 4.0s in the spring.
 
On the volleyball team, three student-athletes made the Chancellor's List and another two made the Dean's List. The team's semester grade point average was 3.54, its cumulative GPA is 3.35 and four members of the squad posted 4.0 GPAs this semester.
 
The men's golf team had a 3.38 semester grade point average, with two members of the team making the Chancellor's List and two making the Dean's List. Two men's golfers had perfect 4.0 GPAs in the spring and eight of the team's 10 members had above a 3.0 grade point average.
 
The Trojan swimming and diving program saw 14 of its 18 student-athletes get higher than a 3.0 during the spring, as the team's semester GPA was 3.34. Four members of the team were honored with a Chancellor's List selection, four made the Dean's List and four had 4.0 GPAs in the spring.
 
The Little Rock baseball team was also above a 3.0 grade point average for the semester as 27 of its 34 members achieved GPAs above 3.0. Five baseball players scored 4.0s in the spring, five made the Chancellor's List and nine made the Dean's List.
 
The men's cross country and track and field program had 12 of its 21 student-athletes surpass a 3.0 semester GPA. Two Trojans posted 4.0s during the spring while one made the Chancellor's List and two made the Dean's List.
 
Little Rock women's cross country and track and field had 10 of its 19 student-athletes finish the semester above a 3.0. One member of the team had a 4.0 grade point average and made the Chancellor's List while three more made the Dean's List.
 
Two student-athletes on the Trojan men's basketball team made the Dean's List, and seven members of the team had GPAs above a 3.0 in the semester.
 
The women's basketball team saw three student-athletes post grade point averages above 3.0. One made the Chancellor's List with a 4.0 grade point average and one made the Dean's List.
