Trojans Honored by Sun Belt For Academic Success

LITTLE ROCK – Nearly 60 percent of Little Rock student-athletes were honored on Tuesday as the Sun Belt Conference released its Commissioner's List and Honor Roll. Ninety-nine (99) Trojans were honored with placement on one of the league's two lists.
 
The Commissioner's List recognizes student-athletes with GPAs above 3.5, and the Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes with GPAs between 3.0 and 3.49.
 
The 99 total student-athletes on those lists is up from last year's total of 93. Fifty-nine (59) student-athletes made the Commissioner's List in 2016 compared to 52 in 2015 and 48 in 2014. The Trojans' Commissioner's List total was at 48 in 2014, 11 fewer than in 2016.

The Trojan baseball team had the highest number of student-athletes on both lists, as 15 members of the team were named to the Commissioner's List and 11 earned Honor Roll status for a total of 26 on both teams.
 
Little Rock track and field and cross country combined for 23 different student-athletes on the Sun Belt lists. Four men and four women were named to the Commissioner's List, and seven men and eight women earned spots on the Honor Roll.
 
The soccer team – three days removed from being named the winner of the Sun Belt's Team Academic Award – saw 15 student-athletes earn a spot on the Commissioner's List to tie with the baseball team for the most. The soccer team also had five others named to the Honor Roll for a total of 20 student-athletes recognized by the league.
 
Seven members of the Little Rock volleyball team were placed on the Commissioner's List and two more were placed on the Honor Roll, making a total of nine volleyball players who were honored by the conference.
 
Eight members of the Trojan men's golf team earned recognition, as five were placed on the Commissioner's List and three were on the Honor Roll. Six different Trojan women's golfers were named to the Commissioner's List.
 
Men's basketball had seven players make one of the Sun Belt lists, as three earned placement on the Commissioner's List and four made it to the Honor Roll.
