Five Questions: Kaitlyn Pratt

LITTLE ROCK – Kaitlyn Pratt has been one of the most accurate shooters in Trojan history in her three year career, as her .555 field goal percentage currently ranks second ever for Little Rock.

In her junior season, Pratt posted career highs with 9.7 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game. She started in 26 games for Little Rock and scored a career-high 21 points against Arkansas State in January.

How you do expect your role to change this season now that you're a senior?

I expect it to change tremendously. I have to work 10 times harder because a lot will be on my back. Last year I believe I should have worked way harder than I did. I should have attacked more. I should have accepted the role of being a junior better than I did. This year I should really accept the role of being a senior and expect a lot out of myself.

What's it like playing in front of large home crowds, like the Arkansas State game for example?

I can honestly say that was amazing. I'm happy that we did great for our fans. We work hard together, so to get to play in front of our fans is a feeling of greatness. To be able to achieve something in front of the fans and making sure that they're happy with what they're seeing and that we win for them is super important. We do everything for our fans, and for our coaches, and ourselves as well. I'm just happy that we were able to have as many fans as we did at the A-State game.

After you're done with basketball what's next for you?

I will be trying to get into grad school here in Little Rock. I'm a social work major and I love my professors so I want to be able to continue working with them. The two fields I would like to get in within social work would be dealing with the homeless population and troubled teens.

If not basketball what other sport would you love to play at the college level?

Volleyball, but I cannot jump so I don't know why I picked that one. In my mind I think I could be really good at volleyball. Like I said I can't jump though, so I'm still not sure why I picked that one."

You're from New Orleans and you play the Sun Belt Tournament every year in New Orleans. How cool is it to know that every year you're going to get to go home and play in front of family and friends?

It's really exciting because I know all my friends and family will be there so I'm just excited to show out in front of them. I can't wait to show them that since high school I've gotten better. I also can't wait to show them my team and my coaches so they will know who I'm with every day. I want them to meet my family here, so I love to play in front of my hometown.
