LITTLE ROCK – After not playing as a freshman,
Kiara Scott will look to break into the Trojans' rotation as a sophomore. Scott won numerous All-Region, All-District and All-State awards in high school on the basketball court and as a sprinter for her track and field team.
Â
What are your goals for this season?
My goals are to contribute to the team. Coach Foley brought me here as shooter so you know I'm going to shoot well, but still make sure I play good defense and show what I can do.
Â
After you're done with basketball, what's next for you?
I plan on going to physical therapy school. I choose physical therapy because it's still related to sports in a way. I like the idea of helping people get back to where they were before their accident, and I like the idea of staying in sports in some way.
Â
What was the biggest lesson you took from last season?
The biggest lesson I took is that we have to work hard individually, but also as a team. We have to trust each other while we work together, if we can do this while trusting our coaches we should be okay.
Â
What was the biggest adjustment for you last year with transitioning from high school to a freshman?
Conditioning for most freshmen is the hardest part. That was one of my struggles. The pace of the game is also a lot quicker. It's also not like high school where you only have two or three good players. Everyone is good so you have to be a lot more competitive.
Â
What is the biggest thing you think you can do for your own game in order to get playing time as a sophomore?
I need to be confident, aggressive and trust my teammates and coaches.
