2017 Johnie Imes Invitational Final Results

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Little Rock improved each round at the 2017 Johnie Imes Invitational, moving up two spots over the final day of the event to finish 11th among the challenging 14-team field. The Trojans carded a 44-over 908, their second-lowest 54-hole score of the season.

The trip to Missouri yielded another top-20 finish for senior Sabrina Bonanno, tying for 15th among the 75-player field with a 4-over 220, her lowest 54-hole score of the year. After an opening round 76, Bonanno shot a 2-under 70 in round two, then followed up that performance with a 2-over 74 in the afternoon round, recording the 17th top-20 showing of her Trojan career.

Originally scheduled to play 18 holes over three days, inclement weather in the forecast for Wednesday forced a change in the schedule as the 14-team field played the final 36 holes Tuesday. Entering the day in 13th, Little Rock finished the morning round with a 14-over 302, highlighted by Bonanno's 70 while junior Emelie Blennow and sophomore Thea Wakeford-Wesmann each added a 4-over 76.

Little Rock continue to improve in the final round later in the afternoon, shaving two strokes off its round two total to register a 12-over 300, tied for the second-lowest round of 2017-18. Blennow turned in the low round of the afternoon session for the Trojans with a 2-under 70, followed by Bonanno with a 2-over 74 and Wakeford-Wesmann's 5-over 77.

Blennow finished second on the Little Rock scorecard with a 7-over 223, tying for second overall in both par-four scoring (3-under) and birdies (six) and sitting just outside the top 20 tying for 24th individually. Wakeford-Wessman tied for 55th with a 16-over 232 with junior Lucy Owen (20-over 236) and senior Pernille Orlien (30-over 246) rounding out the Trojan competitors.

The performance over the final 36 holes pushed Little Rock past a pair of teams, finishing two shots better than 12th-place Wichita State (46-over 910) and seven strokes better than 13th-place Missouri State (51-over 915). The Trojans missed a top-10 finish by two strokes, finishing just behind 10th-place Illinois State (42-over 906).

Host Missouri captured the team title with a 3-under 861, six shots better than East Tennessee State's 3-over 867. Middle Tennessee (13-over 877) finished third with Kennesaw State (14-over 878) and North Texas (19-over 883) rounding out the top-five.

After competing four-straight weeks in four different states across three time zones, Little Rock will get some well-deserved time off. The Trojans will not return to the course until October 29-31 when they host the Little Rock Women's Golf Classic, being held at Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village. Information about the Trojans' home event will be released in the coming days.
