LITTLE ROCK – Men's head basketball coach
Wes Flanigan has announced the addition of
Ian Borders to the Little Rock basketball staff. Borders will serve as the Trojans' video coordinator.
"Ian comes to Little Rock highly recommended from friends on the Florida State staff, who play among the highest level of basketball in the ACC," said Flanigan. "His experience not only at Florida State but also as an assistant high school coach will be very helpful to our staff. He will head up our video responsibilities but a man of his skill set will be very valuable to our program in other areas as well."
Borders comes to Little Rock after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Florida State. He was a member of the Seminole staff that finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2016-17 while reaching the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament. In 2016, Florida State advanced to the second round of the NIT under head coach Leonard Hamilton.
Prior to his time in Tallahassee, Borders spent five years as an assistant coach at South Oldham High School in Crestwood, Kentucky, while also teaching English. During his time at South Oldham, the Dragons made two state championship appearances, the first two in school history. He has also assisted at basketball camps for Leonard Hamilton and Shaka Smart.
Borders earned his bachelor's degree in english from Louisville in 2007, followed by a bachelor's degree in english and language arts from Western Kentucky in 2010. Borders then attained his master's degree in education technology from WKU in 2015, then attained a second master's degree in sport management from Florida State in 2017.
