COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The 2017 cross country season came to a close for Little Rock's men's and women's teams on Friday morning as
Isaac Lalang and
Shanieke Watson placed 13th and 53rd in their respective events at the NCAA South Central Regional.
Â
Lalang's 13th-place time of 30:19.5 in the 10K was just 2.4 seconds off his career-best time of 30:17.1 at the 2015 NCAA South Central Regional. Lalang had plenty of competition as he was one of 167 runners from 29 different Division I institutions.
Â
For finishing in the top 25, Lalang was named All-Region for the third consecutive season.
Â
In her first 6K as a Trojan, Watson posted the fifth-fastest 6K time in program history with a time of 21:27.9. Her time was the fastest by a Little Rock runner since 2015. Watson competed against 169 other runners from 28 different Division I schools.
Â
With the South Central Regional now complete, the Trojans will focus on the indoor track and field season.Â
