Little Rock Closes Out Fall With Kansas Classic

LITTLE ROCK - The Trojans close out fall competition this weekend in the Kansas Classic and KU Diving Invitational in Topeka, Kansas, beginning on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Capitol Federal Natatorium. Little Rock will compete against hosts Kansas as well as Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Omaha and familiar foe, North Texas, who they already have competed against twice this season.

This is the second year the Trojans will compete in the Kansas Classic and KU Diving Invitational and will be the last competition for the team until they resume again in January.

"This is a big weekend for us. With a championship format (prelims and finals), we look at this weekend as our fall final," head coach Amy Burgess said. "Changing up our training and letting the team rest a few days gives us a glimpse of what to expect for our conference championship."

The last time Little Rock faced off against Kansas, Iowa State and Northern Iowa was in year's competition where the Trojans finished sixth place. Little Rock began the season with back-to-back weekends facing off against North Texas. The first being in the North Texas relays where the Trojans finished fifth and the Mean Green finished second. The next weekend, Little Rock hosted North Texas in a dual meet where the Trojans fell to a score of 106-183. This competition will mark the first time the Trojans have ever competed against the University of Nebraska Omaha.

After this weekend, Little Rock will have over a month before they head to Orlando, Florida, for their annual winter training trip. Competition then starts back up January, 13 where Little Rock hosts Southern Illinois.
