Trojans Head to Missouri Valley Championships

LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock swimming and diving will look to make some waves as the team travels to the Missouri Valley Conference Championships taking place Feb. 15-18. This year's championships will take place at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.

Live streaming will be available during the finals each day of the championship on the Missouri Valley Conference's YouTube channel, with coverage starting at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 4 p.m., on Saturday. 
 
The Trojans were picked to finish fifth in last week's pre-championship poll, but they will be looking to improve on that. Last year, Little Rock finished fifth — its best-ever finish at the championships.
 
"We're always looking to improve," head coach Amy Burgess said. "Last year, we moved up a place, and that was big for us. Illinois State is kind of the next target above us. They're right there, and I think if we can step up and perform, we can really do some exciting things."
 
The Trojans will also be looking to break school records as they took down eight during last year's championships. Of those eight records, five still stand.
 
"This is what we train for," Burgess said. "The conference championships are about supporting your teammates and being there for each other. You're on this journey for the entire season, and it all accumulates to this."
