BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Little Rock got four points from
Desmond Gulley and Kennedy Chumba, and four Trojan men qualified for event finals during the first day of the Sun Belt Indoor Championship at the Birmingham Crossplex on Monday.

The Trojans also had six new entries in the program's top-10 all-time lists.

Gulley scored Little Rock's first points of the afternoon, placing seventh in the long jump to record two points for the team. Gulley reached 22' 9 1/4" (6.94 meters) on his first jump of the day and had five more attempts to follow. He got to 6.77 meters on his third jump, 6.63 on his fourth and 6.74 on his fifth to complete his successful attempts. Gulley is currently third all-time in the Trojan record books in the indoor long jump.

Chumba scored two more points for the Trojans in the 3K, racing to a time of 8:30.42. Chumba moves him up from 10th to seventh all-time in Trojan history.

In the 800,
Imad Amenzou qualified for the finals by placing seventh in the prelims with a time of 1:54.93. The Trojan finished second in his heat despite heading into the final lap in fourth place during the race. But he ran fast over the final 200 meters, posting a split of 29.24 seconds. Amenzou's time just beat out his previous best by .02 seconds, giving him the new eighth-fastest time in program history.

The 60-meter dash prelims saw two Trojans earn a spot in the finals on Tuesday.
Dez Mapps had a sixth-place finish in the race in 6.79 seconds, and McGruder was just behind him in a time of 6.79 seconds as well. Down to the thousandth of a second, Mapps just beat out McGruder by .008 seconds. Both times improve on their bests as Trojans and put them tied for third all-time in program history.

Also racing in the 60 prelims were
Cory Martin,
Tre' James and Terrance Goodwin. Martin was 21st in 7.31 seconds, James was 22nd in 7.39 seconds and Goodwin was 23rd in 8.11 seconds.

McGruder made his second final later in the night, qualifying for a spot in the 200 final with a time of 21.63 for an eighth-place finish. That time ties his best as a Trojan and keeps him ninth all-time in program history.
Running 15th in the 200 was Mapps in a time of 22.14. Calhoun was 21st in 22.52 seconds,
Kendrick Dunn was 22nd in 22.63 and Martin was 27th in 23.92 seconds.

In the 60 hurdles,
Zodani Francois earned himself a spot in Tuesday's finals with a time of 8.18 seconds for fifth place.
Antonio Coleman missed out on the finals but placed 13th in 8.51 seconds, bettering his own second-best time in school history by .28 seconds.

Travion Clark just missed qualifying for the finals in the 400, finishing the race in 49.05 seconds for 10th place. Clark's time is the new seventh-best time in program history.
Jaquez Wilson was also close to a top-8 time, placing 16th in 50.08 seconds.

Amenzou, Mapps, McGruder and Francois will all race in their event finals on Tuesday. Tuesday will also host the finals of the mile, 5K and 4x400 relays.
