Malcom Named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week

LITTLE ROCK – With a strong pitching performance on Saturday against Purdue, Little Rock baseball's Cory Malcom was named the Sun Belt Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
 
For the second consecutive week, Malcom tied a career high with 11 strikeouts in seven innings of work and allowed just five hits and a walk against the Boilermakers. Malcom was the first Trojan pitcher to record back-to-back performances with at least 10 strikeouts since Chance Cleveland in 2012.
 
Malcom's strikeout-to-walk ratio leads the nation at 22.00 while his strikeout total of 22 ranks fifth and leads the Sun Belt. His 14.14 strikeouts per nine innings rank 39th in the country while his WHIP of 0.64 ranks 58th.
 
This is Malcom's second career Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week award as he earned the award once last season.
 
Malcom and the Trojans will return to Gary Hogan Field this weekend for a four-game series against Fort Wayne.
