LITTLE ROCK – The Trojan track and field teams will get a great chance to compete at the site of the Sun Belt Championship this weekend when they head to the Birmingham Crossplex to take part in the Jaguar Invitational on Sunday.

Hosted by South Alabama, the Jaguar Invitational will be welcoming Little Rock for the second consecutive year. The one-day event begins on Sunday at noon with track events and field events following at 12:10 p.m.

Competing against Little Rock will be Sun Belt Conference rivals South Alabama, Arkansas State, Georgia State, Texas State and Troy. Other Division I schools at the meet include Georgia Tech, Louisiana Tech, New Orleans, Southern Miss and UAB.

At last weekend's meet, Little Rock resumed its season after nearly two months off by competing at the Arkansas State Invitational.
Anika Charles made an impact for the women, nearly winning one event and putting herself in the top-10 in program history in two different events. For the men, the distance medley relay team brought home a victory and the Trojans put up eight top-five times.

This weekend in the field,
Nicole Edison and
Tyra Gillam will be competing in the long jump while Gillam and
Desmond Gulley will take part in the triple jump.

Adela Hernandez will start Little Rock's participation on the track with a 3K run at noon. Kennedy Chumba and
Emilio Medina will do the same in the men's 3K.

In the 400, Charles,
Bless Dupeh and
Widline Lageroy will run for the women.
Travion Clark,
Jaquez Wilson and Ch'kilas Calhoun will run for the men.
Â
The women's 60-meter dash will see
Christina Nickerson,
Brittney Anderson,
Terance Goodwin,
Michael McGruder and
Dez Mapps in action. In the 60 hurdles, Edison and
Arbonay Hill-Bess will run for the women while
Zodani Francois,
Antonio Coleman and
Davion Campbell will take part for the men.

Jasmine Blunt,
Tyler Kelly and
Akeia Joyner will run the 800 for the women, competing opposite
Imad Amenzou and
Kenneth Broyles on the men's side. And in the 200,
Christina Nickerson,
Eboni Smith,
Jessica Gray, Mapps, McGruder and
Cory Martin will race.

The meet will near its close when the 5K kicks off at 4:45 p.m., and
Hunter Paul and
Tyler Davis will be the Trojans' representatives in those races.

Little Rock will end the meet with two women's teams and one men's team taking part in the 4x400 relays.
