LITTLE ROCK – For the week she scored her 1,000th career point and helped the Trojans to a perfect 11-0 start in the Sun Belt Conference season, Little Rock senior forward
Kaitlyn Pratt earned the Sun Belt Player of the Week award for the third time this year, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Â
Pratt averaged 20.5 points per game in two Trojan victories this week, helping Little Rock beat Appalachian State on Thursday and Coastal Carolina on Saturday. She scored 22 against the Mountaineers and then added 19 more against the Chanticleers. She was also deadly accurate this week, making 73.9 percent of her field-goal attempts (17 of 23).
Â
The senior had a huge career milestone as well on Saturday against Coastal Carolina, scoring her 1,000th career point early in the third quarter.
Â
The senior helped Little Rock to its 11th straight victory, tying a program record for consecutive wins to begin conference play last set in 2010-11. Pratt is averaging 17.3 points per conference game this year, a number that puts her third in the Sun Belt in that category.
Â
This is Pratt's third Sun Belt Player of the Week honor this season and fourth of her career. The senior was previously given the award on December 6 and January 9 of this year as well as once during her sophomore season.
Â
This is the fifth time a Trojan has won the conference's Player of the Week award this year –
Sharde' Collins won each of the last two weeks – and marks the first time in program history that Little Rock players earned the award five times in a single season.
Â
Pratt is the first Trojan to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week three times in a single season since Chastity Reed in 2009-10.
Â
Little Rock has also had a player win the award for three consecutive weeks for the first time in program history. Monday marks the first time any school has won three consecutive Player of the Week awards since Denver had three players week in consecutive weeks in November-December 2010.         Â
Â
The Trojans are alone in first place in the Sun Belt Conference at 11-0 with a 2.5-game lead over second-place UT Arlington and Troy. Little Rock will travel to UT Arlington for a Thursday game at 11:30 a.m. where the team will seek to break the program record for consecutive wins to start conference play.
