Trojans Place Six in Top 10 at Bobby Lane Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Little Rock men's track and field team had six top-10 finishes at the Bobby Lane Invitational at UT Arlington on Saturday.
 
In the field, Desmond Gulley took third place in the long jump to have the highest finish of the day for the Trojans. The senior reached 7.05 meters (23' 1 3/4") on his final jump of the day after jumping as far as 6.99 meters on his five attempts before that.
 
The Trojan men's 4x100 relay team combined for a fourth-place finish in 40.70 seconds. The team of Travion Clark, Dez Mapps, Ch'kilas Calhoun and Michael McGruder were just .21 seconds shy of their school record from the previous weekend.
 
Zodani Francois had a fourth-place finish as an individual in the 110 hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.52 seconds in his first race of this outdoor season. Antonio Coleman was 15th in 16.33 seconds
 
Kennedy Chumba posted a top-five finish in the 1500, placing fifth with a time of 3:59.18. Emilio Medina also ran in the 1500, placing 20th in 4:12.16. Tyler Davis was 31st in 4:31.24.
 
Dez Mapps had the team's highest finish in the 200, taking sixth in a time of 21.03 seconds. That time improves on his previous Trojan best outdoors by .05 seconds, keeping him in fifth all-time in team history.
 
Earlier in the 200, Ch'kilas Calhoun was 34th in 22.63 seconds and Kendrick Dunn was 43rd in 23.14 seconds.
 
In the 100, McGruder came in ninth place with a time of 10.65 seconds. Calhoun was 34th in 11.05 seconds, Kendrick Dunn was 37th in 11.07 seconds, Tre' James was 45th in 11.48 seconds and Cory Martin was 49th in 11.64 seconds.
 
Travion Clark came in 13th in the 400, running in a time of 50.04 seconds. And in the 800, Kenneth Broyles placed 39th in 2:06.19.
 
Emilio Medina and Davis were the Trojans' representatives in the 5K, placing 26th in 16:30.32 and 28th in 16:42.33, respectively.
 
Little Rock will now get ready for its lone home meet of the track season. The Trojans will host the Little Rock Open on April 7-8 at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex.
