Berger Finishes Fifth at Sun Belt Championship

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Shania Berger finished alone in fifth place at 5 over par to pace Little Rock at the Sun Belt Championship at The Fighting Joe at the Shoals. As a team, the Trojans tied for sixth place with a team score of 901.
 
Little Rock tied with South Alabama and finished a stroke back of Arkansas State (900) for fifth place. Texas State and Appalachian State tied for third place with matching team scores of 886. Georgia State (883) was second to Troy (878), who did not relinquish its 36-hole lead.
 
Berger shot a 3-over 75 in her final round to finish at 2 over par. She totaled four birdies on day three, and now has back-to-back top-five finishes at the Sun Belt Championship after tying for individual medalist honors a season ago. The junior was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts.
 
Texas State's Sasikarn Somboonsup was the individual medalist at 6 under par. Fatima Cano of Troy, the leader through two rounds, was the runner-up at 2 under.
 
Emelie Blennow tied for 12^th place overall. Blennow shot a 2-over 74 in her final round to finish at 6 over for the tournament. Sabrina Bonanno recorded a 7-over 79 in round two and finish at 13 over to tie for 27^th place.
 
Pernille Orlien finished at 16 over par and Peyton Weaver finished at 22 over.
