LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock volleyball head coach
Van Compton announced the promotion of longtime assistant
Todd Bourdo to associate head coach on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Bourdo, who is entering his 14th season with the program, has helped the Trojans pick up 15 All-Sun Belt selections, 39 Sun Belt Player of the Week honors, three Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year awards, one Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year award, one Freshman of the Year award, three AVCA All-Region Team honors and two AVCA All-American Honorable Mentions.
Â
"Todd is very deserving of this title," Compton said. "He's been with our program for 14 years, and he's added a lot with his knowledge and expertise of the game and recruiting abilities. We're very fortunate to have him as part of our program."
Â
Bourdo helped coach the 2014 team to a 30-5 overall record with the best undefeated conference record in Sun Belt Conference history at 20-0. He assisted Little Rock to its first-ever AVCA ranking at No. 24 and to the second round of the NCAA Tournament that season.
Â
Before being promoted to the program's first assistant coach in 2008, Bourdo served four seasons as a volunteer assistant coach for the Trojans.
Â
Bourdo came to Little Rock after coaching at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Ark. from 1997-2004. He has also coached the Arkansas Junior Olympics team since 1999.
