LITTLE ROCK – The Trojan track and field teams will close out their regular season just on the other side of the Mississippi River this weekend when they take part in the Memphis Invitational hosted by the University of Memphis.

Action for the two-day meet – held at the Billy J. Murphy Track and Field Complex – begins on Friday at 3 p.m. with select field events and at 5 p.m. for track events. On Saturday, the meet starts at 11 a.m. with more field events before the track races heat up at noon.

Little Rock will be competing against athletes from Memphis, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, UAPB, Mississippi Valley State, Tennessee-Martin, Murray State, Austin Peay, Southeast Missouri State and multiple smaller universities.

The Little Rock men will be entering this weekend's meet ranked No. 95 in the nation according to the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings with
Michael McGruder's 10.17-second 100-meter dash back in early April helping the team to that ranking.

The Trojan men are currently ranked No. 23 in the South Central region while the women are No. 30 in the South Central.

With this weekend's meet the last before the Sun Belt Championship on May 12-14, the Trojans have multiple marks that could make some noise at that meet.

Little Rock has top-eight conference times in the Sun Belt in the men's and women's 100 (
Michael McGruder,
Dez Mapps,
Anika Charles), the men's and women's 200 (McGruder, Mapps, Charles), the women's 400 (Charles,
Bless Dupeh), the men's 5K (Kennedy Chumba), the women's 400 hurdles (
Tyler Kelly), the men's long jump (
Desmond Gulley) along with the men's 4x100 and women's 4x400 relays.
