ARLINGTON, Texas – The Trojan men's track and field team had two scoring efforts and four qualifications to Sunday's finals in the first two days of the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship at Maverick Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

Isaac Lalang turned in two scoring runs in the first two days of the meet. On Saturday night, Lalang was fourth in the 3K steeplechase, running the race in 9:33.45 in just his second steeplechase of the season.

On Friday night, Lalang took fourth place in the 10K, completing the long distance in 31:01.05 in his first 10K competitive race of the season.

Dez Mapps and
Michael McGruder both qualified for the finals in the 100 for the Trojans, taking third and sixth place, respectively, in the prelims. Mapps ran the race in 10.59 seconds. McGruder's time of 10.65 seconds put him into the finals by a mere 0.02 seconds, as three different runners tied with 10.65 and the ninth-place runner finished with a 10.67.

Also in the 100,
Travion Clark was 12th in a time of 10.72 seconds,
Kendrick Dunn was 23rd in 11.03 seconds, Ch'kilas Calhoun was 25th in 11.16 and
Tre' James took 28th in 11.46.

Later in the 200 prelims, Mapps and McGruder made it 2-for-2 on the night when they qualified for Sunday's finals in that distance as well. Mapps came in second in the prelims, winning his heat in a time of 21.18 seconds. McGruder was seventh in the prelims, finishing in 21.42 seconds.

Clark took 15th in the 200 in 21.79 seconds for a season best, and
Cory Martin was 23rd in 24.91 seconds.

Zodani Francois kicked off the track events for Little Rock on Saturday, racing in the 110 hurdles. The senior finished with a time of 14.77 seconds for 12th place.

Imad Amenzou finished the 800 in 19th place with a time of 1:56.18, setting a new season best.Â
Kenneth Broyles was 26th with a time of 2:06.36.

And in the field,
Desmond Gulley came in 12th place when he reached 6.76 meters. He got to that mark on his first jump of the day and nearly equaled it on his final jump when get reached 6.75 meters.

Mapps and McGruder will race in the finals of the 100 and 200 on Sunday, and the 4x100 and 4x400 relays will be held Sunday as well. Also on Sunday, Kennedy Chumba and
Emilio Medina will race in the 1500.
