LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock rising senior
Quin Wilkes has been named to the Sun Belt Conference Leadership Team, the league office announced on Sunday. Wilkes will be the second consecutive Trojan soccer player on the Leadership Team after classmate
Fali Garuba was last year's representative.
Â
The SBC Leadership Team aims to recognize one individual from each institution that exemplifies the highest qualities of being a true student-athlete. This award is given to a letter-winning student-athlete, based on leadership, sportsmanship, community service, citizenship, academic excellence and any other qualities valued by the institution.
Â
"GRIT and Quin go hand in hand," Senior Woman Administrator
Amy Burgess said. "As a team leader in the soccer program and our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President, Quin demonstrates greatness, respect, integrity, and teamwork in everything she does. Leading many of our community service efforts and life skills programs, Quin is a great representative for Little Rock's Team on the Leadership Team."
Â
In her three years with the Little Rock soccer team, Wilkes has made a tremendous impact on the field, in the classroom and in the community. Wilkes has scored 16 goals in her Trojan career and ranks ninth all-time in team history in that category. She is also tied for ninth all-time in Trojan history with 41 career points and is tied for fifth with six career game-winning goals.
Â
In the classroom, Wilkes has posted a cumulative GPA of 3.52 through the Fall 2016 semester, making the Chancellor's List and helping Little Rock to back-to-back Sun Belt Team Academic awards. She is also the president of Little Rock's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), representing all Trojan student-athletes as their chief liaison with the Athletic Department.
Â
In the community, Wilkes and the Trojans have hosted several soccer clinics for youth soccer players, coached Arkansas United ATP programs for youth soccer players and helped feed Little Rock's hungry by bagging dinners through the local Easter Seals branch.
