LITTLE ROCK – Trojan sprinter Anika Charles, who just completed her time in Little Rock with six school records in hand, will be racing for a national championship in Trinidad and Tobago this weekend.

Charles will be competing at the NGC Sagicor NAAA National Open Championships on Friday and Sunday, running in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400 relay against fellow countrywomen for a national title.

Live results for the meet will be available online.

The native of Siparia, Trinidad and Tobago, wrapped up a brilliant two-year career with the Trojans in May when she reached the NCAA West Regional in the 400-meter dash. In 2015 as a junior, she also made the regional round in the 100.

Charles holds six school records as Trojan: The 60, 200 and 400 indoors as well as the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay outdoors. She won the Sun Belt Championship in the 400 as a senior and was on the All-Sun Belt First Team in 2016 as well.

At the National Open Championships, Charles will compete in the preliminaries of the 400 at 6 p.m. on Friday. The 400-meter finals will be held on Saturday. The 4x400 relays will be held on Sunday night to close out the three-day competition.
