LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock Trojans excelled in the classroom in the Spring 2017 semester with nearly 200 student-athletes combining for a 3.21 semester grade point average. The department's combined cumulative GPA is an impressive 3.27.
Seventy percent of Little Rock's student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or better during the spring semester. All told, 27 Trojan student-athletes made the Chancellor's List for earning a GPA of 3.9 or better in the spring. Forty-five made the Dean's List for earning a GPA of 3.5 or better.
The Trojan women's golf team led the department academically, as all seven members earned GPAs of 3.0 or better. The team had a 3.69 semester GPA – highest of any team on campus – and also has the highest cumulative GPA of any Trojan team at 3.71.
Little Rock swimming saw 25 of its 27 student-athletes earn a 3.0 GPA in the spring with a team semester GPA of 3.52 and a cumulative GPA of 3.51.
Soccer had 24 student-athletes reach a 3.0 GPA and tied for the second-highest semester grade point average with a 3.52. The Trojan soccer team's cumulative GPA of 3.56 is also the second-highest on campus.
Little Rock men's golf boasted a 3.45 semester grade point average with seven of its nine student-athletes achieving a mark over 3.0. The same number of student-athletes also have a 3.0 cumulatively, and the team's cumulative GPA is 3.34.
The baseball program was also impressive in the classroom during the spring as 25 players on the roster had grade point averages better than 3.0. As a team, the Trojans had a 3.20 spring grade point average and has a 3.29 cumulative grade point average.
Trojan volleyball had a 3.16 grade point average for the spring semester, and seven student-athletes reached a 3.0 grade point average. The team's cumulative GPA is an impressive 3.42.
The Little Rock women's track and field and cross country teams had a 3.05 grade point average for the spring with 12 different members going over a 3.0 in the semester. Cumulatively, the team has a 3.18 grade point average. Ten members of the Trojan men's track and field and cross country program were above a 3.0 grade point average in the spring.
The women's basketball team had seven student-athletes go over a 3.0 in the spring, and the team has a cumulative GPA of 3.07. Little Rock men's basketball saw eight of its student-athletes achieve a 3.0 or better in the spring.
