Little Rock Takes Fifth at North Texas Relays

LEWISVILLE, Texas – In its season opener, Little Rock swimming and diving took fifth place at the North Texas Relays on Friday evening.
 
The Trojans tallied 208 points for the meet while Houston came out on top with 428 points. North Texas took second with 368 points while SMU placed third with 328 points. Finishing ahead of the Trojans in fourth was Oklahoma Baptist with 242 points. Oklahoma Christian came in sixth with 44 points.
 
In a dual effort, freshman Sierra Thain and senior Samantha Gray finished second in the three-meter dive with a score of 387.98. Earlier in the meet, the duo finished third in the one-meter with a score of 285.15.
 
Little Rock's best relay finish came in the 3x500 free relay as the team of Tori Fryar, Claire Bristow and Charis Won finished fourth with a time of 16:08.21.
 
In the 800-yard free relay, the squad of Laura Ruiz Astorga, Emma Doll, Bristow and Fryar finished fifth with a time of 8:02.73.
 
The Trojans put together a fifth-place finish in the 4x100 IM relay as Ruiz Astorga, Isabelle Finzen, Palmer Ristroph and Imre van Huyssteen came in with a time of 4:11.46.
 
In the first event of the evening, the group of Finzen, Ginger Bryant and Bristow finished sixth in the 3x100 butterfly relay with a time of 3:05.01.
 
Finishing sixth in the 3x100 breaststroke relay was van Huyssteen, Nuria Gallego Murcia and Ginger Bryant with a time of 3:26.80.
 
The 3x100 backstroke relay saw Ruiz Astorga, Fryar and Won finish seventh with a time of 3:01.97.
 
In the 200-yard free relay, Doll, Ristroph, Courtney Goff and van Huyssteen came in seventh with a time of 1:43.15.
 
Cassie Sanchez, Regan Lawrence, Vasiliki Falaina and Rachel Maradyn finished eighth in the 50-100-150-200 free ladder relay with a time of 5:03.42.
 
In the 400-yard medley relay, Ruiz Astorga, Gallego Murcia, Finzen and Doll finished ninth with a time of 4:06 flat.
 
In the final event of the evening, Little Rock finished 10th in the 400-yard free relay as Doll, Lawrence, Ann Kharlamova and Fryar ended up with a time of 3:46.71.
 
The Trojans will return to action against North Texas in their first home meet of the season at the Donaghey Aquatic Center on Oct. 14
