2017 Hobble Creek Classic
Monday, September 11 – Tuesday, September 12
Hobble Creek Golf Club | Springville, Utah

Opening Tee
Little Rock opens up the 2017-18 season in the Intermountain West, traveling to Springville, Utah, for the 2017 Hobble Creek Classic, hosted by Utah Valley University.

Tournament Information
The 2017 Hobble Creek Classic will be a 54-hole tournament at Hobble Creek Golf Course, a par-71, 6,032 yard course in Springville, Utah. Teams will play two rounds on Monday, September 11, teeing off from holes one and 10 beginning at 8:40 a.m. CT. Tuesday's final round will be a shotgun start, getting underway at 9 a.m. CT.

Tournament Field
Little Rock will be one of 12 teams competing in the event and will be the lone Sun Belt Conference representative among the field. The Trojans, who finished the 2016-17 season ranked 160th in the GolfStat rankings, are one of eight schools listed among last season's top-200, led by 58th-ranked New Mexico State. Sam Houston State (No. 112), Southern  Utah (No. 134), Northern Colorado (No. 139), Oral Roberts (No. 150), Weber State (No. 181) and host Utah Valley (No. 185) join Little Rock among those with a top-200 ranking with CSU Bakersfield, Grand Canyon, North Dakota and UT-Rio Grande Valley rounding out the competitors.

Trojan Lineup
Little Rock boasts an experienced roster heading into 2017-18 as all six golfers saw significant experience last season. Head coach Bridgett Norwood's five-player lineup consists of seniors Shania Berger and Sabrina Bonanno, juniors Emelie Blennow and Lucy Owen and sophomore Thea Wakeford-Wesmann with senior Pernille Orlien competing as an individual.

2017-18 Season Outlook
The Trojans will rack up quite the frequent flyer miles this year as Little Rock's 2017-18 schedule takes it to nine different states and all four time zones. Little Rock will compete in tournaments in Utah, Kansas, South Carolina, Missouri, Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Florida while hosting a pair of events in the greater Little Rock area. Little Rock will also need to race out to a fast start in 2017-18 as the Trojans compete in four tournaments in consecutive weeks in four different states to open up the slate.

Head of the Class
While Little Rock experienced its fair share of on-course success in 2016-17, some of its greatest accomplishments came away from the greens. The Trojans were recognized by the WGCA for having the 10th-highest collective team grade point average across the entire nation. Little Rock finished the season with a combined team GPA of 3.80, including a 3.90 GPA for the fall 2016 semester. Five Trojans were named WGCA All-America Scholars as well, comprised of Shania Berger, Emelie Blennow, Sabrina Bonanno, Lucy Owen and Peyton Weaver.

Women's Golf Captures 2016-17 Trojan Cup
In addition to the national recognition, the team added another honor a little closer to home. Women's golf was announced as the winner of the 2016-17 Trojan Cup at Little Rock's welcome back program for student-athletes Tuesday night. The program, in its second year of existence, is a competition among all Little Rock athletic programs based on four areas: academic success, athletic accomplishments, community service and Trojan spirit.

Looking Ahead
Following this weekend's trip to Utah, Little Rock jumps right back into competition next week, traveling to Manhattan, Kansas for the 2017 Marilyn Smith Sunflower Invitational. Hosted by Kansas State, the event will be held at Colbert Hills Golf Club September 17 – 19.
