KYLE, Texas – Little Rock opened the spring portion of its 2017-18 schedule with a 17th-place showing at the Texas State Intercollegiate. The Trojans finished the 54-hole event with a 101-over 953, including a 33-over 317 over the final 18 holes.
With darkness halting the end of round two, Little Rock and the rest of the field finished the round early this morning as the Trojans finished with a  37-over 321. Little Rock sat 16th among the 17-team field after 36 holes with a 68-over 636, two shots ahead of 17th-place Stephen F. Austin.
But the Trojans struggled over the final 18 holes as temperatures hung in the mid 40s. Little Rock carded the 317 over the final round, slipping one spot to 17th to finish the event.
Senior
Sabrina Bonanno tied for 31st individually with a 16-over 229, highlighted by a 3-over 74 over the final round. She finished six shots better than sophomore Thea Wakeford-Wessman, who tied for 52nd overall with a 22-over 235.
Junior
Lucy Owen notched a 31-over 244, followed by senior
Pernille Orlien's 32-over 245. Junior
Emelie Blennow rounded out the Trojan scorecard with a 34-over 247.
The Trojans ended the spring's first tournament five shots behind 16th-place McNeese (96-over 948) and 11 strokes back of 15th-place Stephen F. Austin (90-over 942).
Central Arkansas captured the team title with a 20-over 872, finishing nine strokes ahead of second-place UT San Antonio (29-over 881). Houston Baptist (32-over 884) finished third with Sun Belt Conference foes Texas State (40-over 892) and Georgia Southern (42-over 894) rounding out the top-five.
Little Rock returns to action in 10 days, making another trip out west to Arizona for the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, being held February 23-25 in Rio Verde, Arizona. The visit to the Valley of the Sun will be the fourth different time zone the Trojans will have competed in in 2017-18.
