RIO VERDE, Ariz – Little Rock leads the field after 18 holes at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Arizona. The Trojans shot a 17-over 305 in round one, sitting atop the 17-team leaderboard.

Little Rock was led by a 3-over 75 by seniors
Sabrina Bonanno and
Pernille Orlien in round one as the duo is part of a six-player tie for ninth-place overall. The senior pair both opened with a 2-over 38 over the front nine, then went 1-over 37 over the back nine to register the 75s.
Junior
Lucy Owen posted a 5-over 77, one stroke off her season-low, and sits tied for 24th overall individually. She holds a one stroke lead on sophomore
Thea Wakeford-Wesmann, who carded a 6-over 78 over the opening 18 holes and is tied for 34th. Junior
Emelie Blennow rounds out the Little Rock scorecard with a 13-over 85.
The Trojans were solid throughout the day, registering a 7-over 151 over the front nine holes, followed by a 10-over 154 over the back nine, settling atop the team leaderboard. Little Rock led the field in par-three scoring, finishing at 3-over with a 3.15 average, and posted a tournament-best 58 pars on the day, led by 14 from Owen and 12 each from Bonanno, Orlien and Wakeford-Wesmann.
Little Rock holds a one stroke lead on second-place Akron (18-over 306) and is two shots ahead of third-place Seton Hall (19-over 307). Eastern Michigan (20-over 308) sits fourth with Bradley (22-over 310) and Arkansas State (23-over 311) rounding out the top six of a competitive field where 10 strokes separate first from 11th-place.
The Trojans will tee off from holes one through three on day two of the Rio Verde Intercollegiate, playing with Akron and Seton Hall in the round two pairings. Live scoring of the tournament is available at
