LITTLE ROCK - With the Missouri Valley Conference Championships set to begin in just five days, the Little Rock swimming and diving team were co-picked with Indiana State to finish sixth in the pre-championship polls that were released on Friday.

The Trojans gained 21 points in the voting process to sit along with Indiana State. The outstanding favorite picked to win was Missouri State with 64 points and received all eight first-place votes. Behind them was Southern Illinois with 56 points, Northern Iowa with 47 points and Illinois State with 41 points. Sitting ahead of Little Rock and Indiana State was Evansville with 28 points and picked to finish last was Valparaiso with 10 points.

"It has been a roller coaster this year with injuries, illnesses and life, and this just doesn't represent what this team is capable of doing," head coach
Amy Burgess commented. "I like going into to conference championship as the underdog. We are excited to go in with a few surprises."

The team will travel to Iowa City, Iowa where the University of Northern Iowa is set to host the MVC Championships on Feb 14 -17.
