Tournament Field
Little Rock will be one of 17 teams competing at this week's Redhawk Invitational and will be one of just three teams not located in either the Mountain or Pacific time zones. The Trojans, ranked 126th in the latest GolfStat rankings, are one of seven teams among the top-150, including San Francisco (No. 52), Long Beach State (No. 109), UC Santa Barbara (No. 112), Boise State (No. 118) and San Diego (No. 138). Little Rock will be the only Sun Belt Conference school among the field.
Trojan Lineup
Little Rock will compete in Washington with the same five golfers it has fielded in the last three events, led by junior
Justin Warren's team-best 73.50 scoring average.
Aaron Ramos (74.29),
Logan Pate (74.33) and
Tiago Lobo (74.83) all enter the weekend posting scoring averages below 75.
Â
Trojans at the Redhawk Invitational
The trip to the Pacific Northwest will be the second in as many seasons for Little Rock, which placed fourth among an 18-team field at last season's event. The Trojans shot a 17-over 865 last season, besting schools such as BYU, TCU, Notre Dame and Princeton. Tyler Reynolds led the way with a 4-under 208, finishing fourth individually, as
Danial Durisic, the lone Trojan to make the return trip to this year's event, tied for 24th at 7-over 219.
Last Time Out
Little Rock took a break from traditional tournament play, competing in the 2018 Mystic Creek Match Play at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado on March 24. Little Rock went 1-1 on the day, falling to ULM 4-1 before defeating Louisiana Tech 3-2.
Justin Warren,
Danial Durisic,
Logan Pate and
Aaron Ramos each won matches on the day as the event served as a warm-up for the match play format of the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
Next Tournament, New State
With the trip to Washington this week, Little Rock will be playing its 10th tournament in its sixth different state this season. The Trojans have teed up in Tennessee, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas and California this season, accumulating over 9,500 miles so far, a number which will increase by over 4,500 miles this week. Little Rock will to Mississippi before heading to the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Florida, taking the Trojans to eight different states and four different time zones this season.
Looking Ahead
After the trip to Washington this week, Little Rock will make a much shorter trip to Starkville, Mississippi, competing in the 2018 Old Waverly Intercollegiate. The event, being hosted by Mississippi State at Old Waverly Golf Club, will be held Monday, April 16 and Tuesday, April 17, serving as the final tune-up before the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championships later this month.
