TORRANCE, Calif. – As Little Rock's lone entrant in the Mt. SAC Relays,
Shanieke Watson took seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday night at El Camino College.
Watson completed her heat in fourth with a time of 10:33.13 — 11.53 seconds faster than her previous personal record. After the second and final heat, her time ranked seventh overall out of 24 runners.
Watson's time is currently the fastest in the Sun Belt Conference this season by a margin of 14.05 seconds and ranks as the third-fastest in school history.
Watson will join the rest of the Trojans in Jonesboro for their next-to-last weekend of regular-season competition as they'll compete in the Red Wolves Open beginning on Friday at 3 p.m. The action will resume on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
