Trojans Win Five Events at Little Rock Open

LITTLE ROCK – Cold weather had little effect on Little Rock's women's outdoor track and field squad as the Trojans earned five event wins in Saturday's Little Rock Open at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex.
 
Seniors Brittney Anderson, Tyra Gillam, Brittany Pinder-Jones and Eboni Smith were honored prior to their final home meet at Coleman Complex.
 
Vianney Sanchez got the meet started with a win in the 5,000. She finished with a time of 19:03.39 while Hannah Manning was second with a time of 19:09.85.
 
TeeTee Scott won the 400 with a time of 58.73 — 3.5 seconds faster than second place. Akeia Joyner was fourth in 1:04.50, and Jessica Gray was fifth in 1:04.55.
 
Shanieke Watson won the 800 with a time of 2:20.21 — nearly nine seconds faster than second place.
 
In the long jump, Nicole Edison won the event with a mark of 5.10 meters. Gillam was fifth with a mark of 4.78 meters.

Brandi Allen, Pinder-Jones, Ka'Neisha Jackson and Scott won the 4x100 relay with a time of 49.04 — 4.29 seconds faster than second place.
 
Pinder-Jones finished second in the 200 with a time of 25.57 seconds while Helensia Green was third in 26.03 seconds. Finishing fourth was Dasia Harris in 27.08 seconds, and Smith finished sixth in 27.85 seconds.
 
In the 100, Allen took third with a time of 12.80 seconds. Anderson was fifth in 12.98 seconds.
 
Little Rock will now prep for the UCA Open on Friday and Saturday in Conway.
