Little Rock Women's Basketball strengthens roster with addition of Lester

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Little Rock Women's Basketball team has added another player to its roster for the 2024-25 season with the signing of Ashley Lester, a sophomore guard transfer from Florida Southwestern State.

Lester – a native of Athens, Ga. – was a 1st Team All-Citrus Conference selection as a freshman for the Buccaneers, putting up 12 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 35 percent from the floor, 35 percent from long range, and 76 percent from the free throw line. She played in all 30 games for the Buccaneers, starting in 25.

"We're very excited to add Ashley to our program," Little Rock head coach Joe Foley said. "She's a big guard who can really shoot the three and has good length that can defend and rebound the basketball."

Lester attended Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, where she was a 4-time All-Region performer, earning 1st Team honors as a junior and senior. She finished her high school career ranked in the Top 10 in school history with 1,452 points. At Florida Southwestern, she became the first player in three years to score 30+ points in a game when she dropped a career-high 32 points during a win over Hillsborough.

"You're not just getting a dedicated student-athlete, but a woman of character that will represent your team and institution with the utmost of integrity," said Florida Southwest head coach Dr. Jerald Ellis.
