Bridgett Norwood was named Little Rock head women’s golf coach in 2003 after spending the previous two years as an assistant coach with the Trojans. In her time as head coach, Norwood has helped produce 22 All-Sun Belt selections and 14 individual medalists.
Norwood has produced at least one All-SBC selection in all 15 of her seasons as head coach. Under Norwood, Sarah Wikstrom earned a program-record four All-Conference honors while earning three tournament victories from 2006-09. Wikstrom also received an at-large invitation to the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship Central Regional three straight years (2007-09).
Shania Berger picked up All-Sun Belt First Team honors in 2016-17 thanks to six top-15 finishes. She placed fifth at the 2017 Sun Belt Championship to earn All-Tournament honors for the second time.
In the 2015-16 season, three Trojans earned All-Sun Belt honors for the second straight year. Stina Resen and Berger were voted All-SBC First Team, while Sabrina Bonanno earned All-SBC Second Team honors. Berger was the runner-up at the 2016 Sun Belt Championship.
The Trojans put together a strong campaign in 2014-15, winning the Delta Gamma Challenge in New Braunfels, Texas, and capturing a total of eight top-five finishes on the season. Three Little Rock players – Bonannno, Resen and Sofie Kvarnstrom – earned First Team All-Sun Belt honors while Resen was named the Sun Belt Golfer of the Year.
Resen took home individual medalist honors at two events, including the Sun Belt Championship in Loxley, Ala. She became the first Trojan since 2009 to win the league’s annual year-end event. Her scoring average (73.87) and score vs. par average (+2.03) ranked second in the conference.
In 2014, Sofia Berglund captured All-SBC accolades after tying for fifth place at the Sun Belt Championship. The 2013-14 season also saw Kvarnstrom capture medalist honors at the Oral Roberts shootout in just her third match at Little Rock.
The Trojans enjoyed another successful year in the classroom, as the team boasted the seventh-best GPA in the nation (3.74) during the 2013-14 academic year. Five of the team’s players were named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar team for earning a GPA of 3.5 or above. Berglund, who earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a perfect 4.0 GPA, was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team.
In 2012-13, Little Rock earned a tournament victory at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial while Emelie Westrup captured medalist honors. Westrup would go on to earn another individual victory later in the season, winning the USA Women’s Women’s Invitational in February. She would eventually be named to the All-Sun Belt Conference team for the second time in her career.
The Trojans won team and individual championships at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational during the 2011-12 campaign. Malin Lundberg earned medalist honors while the Trojans played well enough to earn a 14-stroke victory over second-place Kansas State. Later that year, Megan Vaughn placed third at the Sun Belt Championships to earn a spot on the All-Sun Belt team for the second consecutive year.
Vaughn and Lundberg both were named to the All-SBC squad in 2011, capping a run of three straight seasons the Trojans produced multiple All-Conference performers. Westrup and Mallory Fraiche were named to the 2010 team, while Fraiche and Wikstrom earned spots in 2009.
Fraiche and Wikstrom placed first and second, respectively at the 2009 Sun Belt Championship. Fraiche became just the second Little Rock women’s golfer to take home medalist honors at the SBC Championship, joining Maria Jose Hurtado (2000).
The 2007-08 season saw Norwood guide the Trojans to a second-place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championships – the program’s highest finish since winning the tournament in 1999.
In 2005-06, Norwood led the women’s team to three tournament titles during the spring season, as the Trojans took first place at the Ed Hicks Nissan Islander Classic, the Little Rock Women’s Golf Classic, and the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial. The Trojans picked up another tournament title in 2006-07 by winning the Little Rock Women’s Golf Classic for the second straight year.
Prior to joining the Little Rock golf staff as an assistant coach, Norwood had served as a volunteer coach with the Trojans since 1992.
She has been active in Arkansas women's golf circles for more than 25 years, and is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the Arkansas Women's Golf Association. She previously was president of the Little Rock Women's Golf Association. Norwood has compiled an impressive resume on the links as well, as a past club champion at North Hills Country Club and also at Chenal Country Club, where she claimed the title in 1997, 2000 and 2001.
Norwood graduated from Sylvan Hills High School and attended the University of Central Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She and former Little Rock Director of Golf Wyn Norwood were married on June 22, 2000.
