SHERMAN, Texas?The University of Arkansas-Little Rock swim team finished fourth out of seven teams at the Austin College Invitational on Saturday. The Trojans scored 152 points, while Henderson State University won the event with 461.
Junior Danielle Horack led the team winning both the 100 and 200 yard butterfly in times of 1:02.78 and 2:21.81 respectively. She also placed third in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.97.
Senior Mary Emmons won the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:21.02, while placing second in the 200 yard breaststroke. She also recorded a fourth place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:14.94.
Senior Eimear Ryan had a solid meet finishing fifth in the 100 yard backstroke (1:07.50) and seventh in the 200 yard backstroke (2:26.02).
Susana Villalba finished eighth in the 100 yard backstroke (1:17.16), 14th in the 50 yard freestyle (29.67), and 15th in the 100 yard freestyle (1:09.94), while Kellie LaMonica recorded an eighth place finish in the 100 yard freestyle (1:01.46) and twelfth in the 50 yard freestyle (28.32).
Sarah Butler competed in the 100 yard backstroke placing ninth in a time of 1:18.50, while Gabrielle Edwards placed 16th in the 100 yard freestyle in (1:15.91) and 17th in the 50 yard freestyle in 33.52.
The relay team of Ryan, Emmons, Horack, and LaMonica placed fourth in the 200 yard medley relay in 2:02.97, while the team of LaMonica, Ryan, Churchill, and Villalba placed seventh in the 200 yard relay in 1:55.97.
