Swimming and Diving squad opened their 2008-09 season today as they squared off
with the host team, St. Louis University, and Western Illinois.
The Trojans were unable to pick up a victory today as they lost to St. Louis 160 to 59 and Western
Illinois by the count of 108 to 68.
The combination of Jenna
Rutecki, Audra Stalzer, Brenda Gannon and Stephanie Heutel picked up a third place finish in the 200 yard
medley relay with a time of 1:56.89.
Stalzer also enjoyed a third place finishes in the 200
yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.23 and the 200 breaststroke with a
mark of 2:34.16.
Jordan Moon was able to place second in the
1,000 yard freestyle race with a time of 11:06.41, finishing only behind Lauren
Trondle of WIU who boasted a time of 10:58.69.
UALR had two other individual second place finishes on the
afternoon. Heutel placed second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.32
while Gannon finished in the same spot in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of
5:23.35.
The Trojans capped off their first day of action with a
second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The group which included, Chelsea Churchill, Vicki Lovellette, Moon
and Rutecki, finished just behind St.
Louis with a time of 1:45.72.
The Trojans will return to action in two weeks on Oct. 25
when they host Hendrix and Rhodes at the Donaghey Center Natatorium. The event
is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
