Box Score TROY, Ala. ? Troy (24-17, 12-6 Sun Belt) banged out six hits and six runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-3 win over the UALR baseball team on Sunday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field. Troy totaled 19 hits in the win led by outfielder Michael Precise, who went 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and six RBI.
The Trojans (9-27, 5-14) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a RBI double from senior Robert Taylor, and a run-scoring double from junior Greg McCarthy. But the Trojans would manage just four hits and one run after the first inning, in a game which was called after seven frames.
McCarthy accounted for UALR's only other run, belting a solo homer in the top of the third ? his fifth of the year. McCarthy went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the loss, while Taylor extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.
UALR starter Ashur Tolliver dropped to 0-5 on the year after allowing 10 hits and eight runs (all earned) over 3.2 innings. Troy's Jeff Green (1-3) picked up his first win of the year by going 6.0 innings with six strikeouts, while allowing six hits and three runs.
Troy's Brett Henry and Shohei Fujita drove in three runs a piece, while Beau Brooks hit his sixth home run of the season ? a solo shot in the fourth.
UALR returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Shreveport, La. to take on Centenary at 6 p.m.
