DENTON, Texas - The UALR swimming and diving team captured three victories in a 137-124 loss at North Texas on Saturday at the Pohl Recreation Center. Sophomores Kara Raney and Holly Myers picked up wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke events, respectively, while junior Amber Kelly secured another Trojan victory in the 200 butterfly.
Raney secured her 100 backstroke victory in a time of 1:00.02, better than a full second and a half ahead of the second-place finisher from North Texas (1:02.75). The sophomore went on to add a runner-up finish in the 50 free (25.37) later in the day.
Holly Myers picked up the win in the 200 back in a time of 2:11.38. Senior Jenna Rutecki (2:20.66) and sophomore Hope Myers (2:26.13) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the race. Hope Myers also added a third-place finish in the 200 free (2:05.19).
Kelly's victory in the 200 fly (2:10.98) was her first individual win of the year. She added a runner-up finish as well in the 100 fly (59.65) later in the afternoon.
Freshman Lexie Keller garnered a pair of runner-up finishes, placing second in the 200 free (1:57.90) and 100 free (54.01) events. Another freshman, Meghan Petersen, added two second-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.66) and 200 breaststroke (2:36.68).
UALR returns to the pool in its final regular season meet on Feb. 3 when they host Vanderbilt at the Donaghey Center Natatorium.
