- Leading 47-33 at the half, Ole Miss (3-0) used a 26-to-4 run to start the
second half to put the game out of reach and top UALR (1-2) by a 92-52 final
score Friday night at Thomas Assembly Center. The Rebels finished the game
shooting 52 percent (33-of-64) from the floor 74 percent (20-of-27) from the
foul line.
Derrick Millinghaus shot 9-of-11 from the foul line to
lead Ole Miss with 19 points. Marshall Henderson knocked down five
three-pointers and scored 17 points, while Nick Williams (12), Murphy Holloway
(11) and Reginald Buckner (10) gave Ole Miss five players in double figures.
Freshman John Gillon
led UALR with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-7 from three-point
range. Freshman James White had nine
points, seven rebounds and two blocks, while freshman Kemy Osse finished with seven points.
The Rebels played to a +13 margin on the boards
(47-to-34), becoming the first opponent to outrebound UALR this season.
Reginald Buckner led Ole Miss with 11 boards. White and junior Leroy Isler finished with seven
rebounds each to lead the Trojans.
Freshman Josh
Hagins and White each dished out two assists to lead UALR in that category.
Fueled by four points apiece from Michael Javes and Will
Neighbour, the Trojans raced out to a 10-3 lead to open the game. After a
jumper by the Rebels' Jarvis Summers tied the score at two, UALR scored eight of
the next nine points, capped by two free throws by Neighbour, to take its
biggest lead of the night.
Ole Miss answered with 13-straight points, ending with
back-to-back three pointers by Henderson to put the Rebels up 16-10. A field
goal by Isler got the Trojans back within four, but the Rebels responded by
going on a 9-3 run to increase their lead to 10, 25-15. UALR pulled within five
on a three pointer by Josh Hagins that made it 25-20, but Ole Miss came back
with six-straight points to push the lead back to double digits.
Leading 47-33 at the half, Ole Miss came out of
intermission with a 26-to-4 run that put the Rebels up 73-37 and effectively
put the game out of reach.
UALR returns to action when it hosts Milwaukee at the
Jack Stephens Center on Monday at 7 p.m.
