ST. LOUIS – Senior Holly Myers led UALR swimming and diving with another backstroke win on the weekend as the Trojans beat Maryville 158-23 and fell to Saint Louis 144-52 Saturday morning (Nov. 9).
Holly Myers blew by the competition in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:13.22, more than two seconds faster than her nearest Saint Louis competitor. Freshman Jinson Kang followed up a strong Friday performance in the 400 IM with a runner-up finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.74. She also took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:19.18.
Senior Kara Raney and sophomore Valeriya Teplova went 1-2 in the 100 freestyle, finishing with times of 54.73 and 55.17. Sophomore Megan Scott finished second in the 3-meter springboard diving event with a total of 232.70.
In the 1650 freestyle, freshman Kayla Grimm finished with a time of 19:08.21, finishing third.
UALR competed in a trio of relays on the day, taking runner-up honors in all three. In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of Raney, Teplova and freshmen Erin Trumbach and Courtney Coe finished with a time of 1:50.45. The same four swimmers took second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.11.
In the 800 freestyle relay, the team of Kang, Coe, Teplova and Holly Myers took second with a time of 8:08.23.
Swimming and diving returns to action in two weeks when it travels to Springfield, Mo., for the annual Drury Invite.
