NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With the first day of competition in the books, UALR swimming fell to Vanderbilt 213-45, San Diego State 190-60, and Campbell 179-79.
UALR's best finish of the day came in the 400-yard freestyle relay with junior Valeriya Teplova, sophomore Courtney Coe, and freshmen Emma Doll and Tori Fryar placing fourth with a time of 3:44.15.
In other events, Fryar managed to take the highest individual finishing position of any Trojan swimmer for the day by placing fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.10. Fryar also placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.50.
Sophomore Jinson Kang placed sixth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.21.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, freshman Nuria Gallego Murcia's time of 1:09.65 was good enough for seventh place. Murcia also placed seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.97.
The Trojans go back to work against San Diego State and Vanderbilt starting at 11 a.m. tomorrow (Oct. 15).
