ST. LOUIS – UALR split the first day of its meet in St. Louis with a win over Maryville (151-48) and a loss to Saint Louis (149-56).
Freshman Tori Fryar won her first two collegiate events by taking the 200- and 500-yard freestyles with times of 1:56.45 and 5:09.00, respectively.
Junior Valeriya Teplova finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.09.
Sophomore Jinson Kang placed second in the 200 IM by touching the wall in 2:13.13. Kang also finished fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:22.55.
Sophomore Courtney Coe finished second in the 100-yard fly by touching the wall in 58.55, just over one second the winner.
Junior Megan Scott placed second in her first diving competition of the season by scoring 245.68 in the 1-meter dive, while freshman Samantha Gray placed fourth in her first collegiate event with a score of 209.70.
Freshman Emma Doll, Courtney Goff, and Nuria Gallego Murcia each finished third in their respective events. Doll finished the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.62, while also placing fifth in the 50-yard free with a time of 25.65. Goff swam the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.52, while Gallego Murcia ended the 100-yard breaststroke by touching the wall in 1:09.18.
Sophomore Kayla Grimm placed fifth in the 200 IM, while senior Meghan Petersen finished sixth in the 100-yard free and the 100-yard breaststroke.
Sophomore Stephanie Lauer finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:06.40 while freshman Meghan Everett finished right behind her in 2:06.65.
Freshman Cassandra Sanchez finished seventh in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke with times of 26.31 and 1:06.62, respectively.
UALR finished second in each of the relay events. The first event of the evening was the 200-yard medley relay in which Goff, Gallego Murcia, Coe, and Teplova finished with a time of 1:51.73. The last event of the evening was the 200-yard free relay with Coe, Doll, Goff, and Teplova finishing with a time of 1:40.46.
UALR will get back in the water on Saturday (Oct. 18) to face Saint Louis and Lincoln starting at 2 p.m.
