LITTLE ROCK – The Little Rock men's basketball team will play its first road game under new head coach
Chris Beard at 3 p.m. on Saturday at San Diego State. The game will be televised on Fox Sports San Diego and live streamed for free through the Mountain West Network.

The Trojans are coming off a 95-49 win over Centenary on Wednesday night that saw the team score its most points in regulation in three seasons and
Marcus Johnson Jr. produce the first 30-point game by a Little Rock player since Will Neighbour in Jan. 2014.

Balance has been the story for the Little Rock offense through two games. Six players have scored in double figures and six players are averaging at least 8.5 points per game. The Trojans are assisting on 55.0 percent of their made field goals and totaled 22 helpers on Wednesday night, the program's most since the 2013-14 season.

San Diego State is off to a 2-1 start after being picked to win the Mountain West Conference. Preseason All-MWC selection Winston Shepard is averaging 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds through three games. The Aztecs are 145-16 (.900) at home since the start of the 2005-06 season, the seventh-best mark nationally.

As an assistant under Bobby Knight at Texas Tech, Beard helped the Red Raiders win four straight games against the Aztecs, including one matchup at Cox Arena (now known as Viejas Arena). Saturday's contest will be the first-ever meeting between Little Rock and San Diego State.

Chris Beard spent 10 seasons as an assistant at Texas Tech (2001-11) under head coaches Bobby Knight and Pat Knight. Early in Beard's tenure, Texas Tech beat San Diego State in four straight matchups spanning 2001-04. The streak included Texas Tech topping San Diego State 75-63 on Jan. 6, 2003 in Cox Arena to snap SDSU's six-game home winning streak.
