Little Rock Falters at Troy

TROY, Ala. – Little Rock volleyball (12-13, 8-7) suffered a 3-0 loss (23-25, 22-25, 23-25) at Troy (14-16, 7-8) on Sunday afternoon.
 
Marina Avram tallied a team-high eight kills while Veronica Marin recorded seven kills and hit a match-high .500 on 12 attempts. Priscila Almeida led the team in digs with 12, and Carolee Dillard led the match with five block assists while tallying six kills.
 
Little Rock started the match on a slow note as it was down by as much as five points at 11-6. Little Rock surged during the middle part of the set to tie the frame at 17-17. Little Rock earned its first lead of the day at 20-19 with a kill by Miona Milovanovic. Little Rock earned set point at 24-21 with a block by Edina Selimovic and Veronica Marin, but Troy wasn't going down without a fight. Troy rallied to score five straight points to take the set 26-24.
 
The second set was much like the first as Little Rock trailed 17-10 to begin the set, but it fought back to tie and take the lead at 21-20. Little Rock's campaign was part of an 11-3 run. Tied 22-22, Troy earned three straight points on two kills and an ace to win the set 25-22.
 
Little Rock had its best start to a set in the third frame as the match went back and forth as both teams remained knotted up until 14-14. Troy got hot and led the set by six at 22-16. Little rock found some late momentum and got within one point at 23-22 and 24-23, but a Troy kill put the match away.
 
Selimovic finished with six kills, three blocks and two aces. Milovanovic tallied five kills and had three blocks.
 
Taylor Lindberg earned 28 assists and had two service aces. Sydnee Martin and Kelsey Leech finished with five and two digs, respectively.
 
Little Rock outblocked Troy 8-5 while also holding a 6-4 advantage with aces.
 
Little Rock returns to the Jack Stephens Center for the final time this season when it plays Appalachian State on Friday night. The Trojans will also honor seniors Priscila Almeida, Katarina Bursac, Edina Selimovic and Megan Mathis.
